Photographs from The Margulies Collection
LEMPERTZ Brussels is pleased to present highlights from the upcoming special auction "Photographs from The Margulies Collection". This auction features pieces from the collection of Miami-based businessman and philanthropist Martin Z. Margulies, who is recognized as one of the top 200 art collectors worldwide, according to ARTnews Magazine.

Active as a patron and collector of contemporary art since the mid-1970s, Margulies discovered photography as a medium for himself in the 1990s. His initial purchases included works from the Düsseldorf School, featuring key figures such as Bernd and Hilla Becher, Andreas Gursky, Thomas Ruff, and Thomas Struth. Over time, Margulies shifted his focus to early 20th-century photography and, more recently, to American contemporary photography. His latest acquisitions highlight important artists such as Stephen Shore, Alec Soth, Henry Wessel, Mark Ruwedel, and Justine Kurland, all guided by the overarching theme of the “conditio humana.”
The LEMPERTZ exhibition will showcase central works from this distinguished group of photographers, offering a unique insight into their contributions to the medium.
This exhibition is part of RENDEZVOUS – Brussels Art Week.
