Andreas Schumacher transfers from the Alte Pinakothek in Munich to Lempertz auction house in Cologne

Dr. Andreas Schumacher, former collection director of the Alte Pinakothek and deputy director general of the Bavarian State Painting Collections, will join Kunsthaus Lempertz on December 1st, 2025. Dr. Schumacher will become a member of the management board in Cologne/Munich and will be responsible for the Old Masters division, in which Lempertz is the German market leader.

Dr. Andreas Schumacher will take over the Old Masters department at Lempertz on December 1st.

Andreas Schumacher, a scholar and curator who has devoted himself particularly to Italian art from the Renaissance to the late Baroque period, was awarded the Lempertz Prize in 2005 for his outstanding dissertation at the University of Bonn. Isabel Apiarius-Hanstein, CEO of Lempertz, is delighted to have secured the services of this internationally renowned expert for the 226-year-old family business.
